Rie Sharky, MD

Psychiatry & Psychotherapy for

Children, Teens, Young Adults, Parents and Families

About Me

Hello!  I am Dr. Rie (Ree-eh) Sharky, a Board-Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  I completed medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, trained in general psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and sub-specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Washington/Seattle Children's Hospital.

In addition to psychiatric medication management, I have advanced training in psychotherapy including family systems, parent behavioral management training, psychodynamic psychotherapy, group therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, emotion focused family therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

My Approach

There is overwhelming evidence that therapeutic interventions early in development can make the greatest impact.  Because of this, I have chosen to focus my practice on working with families, young children and their caregivers as well as women experiencing anxiety and depression before, during and after pregnancy.  Additionally, I am passionate about providing LGBTQIA+ identity affirming care as well as working with transition age youth including college students.

As a psychiatrist and psychotherapist,  I am able to utilize both therapy and medicine to tailor a treatment plan that best serves your individual needs.   I believe in taking a compassionate and collaborative approach to your care, which includes understanding your world through a dynamic lens including your biological, social, cultural, spiritual, and psychological world.  This is especially true for the young children that I serve where I also focus on getting to know the whole system around them including family, friends and school.

In order to understand your world, I know that trust will be foundational for both of us as we work together.  I initially provide a consultation with each person and family to see if it is the right fit for continuing to work together.  I look forward to meeting you!

Insurance and Fees

I accept insurance for Regence, Premera and First Choice.   Many insurance companies will cover out-of-network providers.  Please contact your insurance company to find out what your individual benefits are.  You can also pay for services through your tax savings plans such as FSA or HSA.

Please note that Medicaid and Medicare do not allow for out-of-network providers, therefore I am unable to see patients with these insurance plans.

For more information about insurance and fees, please contact my billing specialist Linda Kenyon at  (360) 529-3926.
